2024-2025 LESSON POLICY

LESSONS

One-on-one lessons are offered in 30, 45, and 60 minute weekly sessions September 3 - June 20. We can assist you in selecting a lesson length that best suits the student’s needs.
Summer session is offered in the month of August.

MISSED LESSONS

Students are allowed a maximum of three (3) make-up lessons due to student cancellations throughout the course of the academic year: September 3 - June 20. A make-up lesson will not be offered once a student has exceeded three (3) cancellations. Please, notify your teacher to cancel your lesson as soon as you are aware that you will not be attending at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Rescheduled lessons will not be granted for no-shows, under any circumstances.
In the event of teacher cancellation, a make-up lesson will be guaranteed.
In the event of inclement weather, a virtual lesson will be provided at the time of your scheduled lesson.
*Please, do not send your child to the lesson if they or anyone in the household are ill or unwell, the lesson can be conducted virtually.

TUITION & FEES

Monthly tuition is due by the 1st day of each month. An invoice will be calculated based on the amount of lessons in the upcoming month and will be emailed 10 days prior to its due date. Any payments received beyond the due date (past the 1st day of each month) are considered past due and a $10 late fee will be applied. Lessons cannot be conducted if the tuition is not paid.
Invoices are sent via email through the music software system MyMusicStaff. Please, make sure to mark these emails on your “safe list” so that they don’t end up in your email junk folder. Payments can be made by PayPal, Venmo, check or cash. A secure Auto-pay option is offered as well.

30-minute lesson - $40
45-minute lesson - $60
60-minute lesson - $80
Recital fee - $40

TERMINATION

If a student no longer wishes to receive lessons, he or she must submit a written two-week notice (email is accepted). It is hoped that this decision is made thoughtfully after discussion with the instructor to have a sense of understanding between a parent, student, and instructor.
The instructor reserves the right to terminate lessons based on lack of preparation, respect, interest, and late payments. The instructor will contact the parent for a conference prior to terminating lessons.

BOOKS & MATERIALS

We will provide all music books and add their cost to your invoice. Expect the first year music materials to amount about $20-30 which will be added to your invoice once the books are provided. You are welcome to acquire books yourselves using the recommended list provided by your teacher.
A metronome is required for use in practice. If you do not have one, please purchase one.

PIANO

You must have an acoustic piano or full-sized keyboard with 88-weighted keys, foot pedal and a bench at proper height in your home. If you don’t have one, your instructor can recommend you a variety of options - whether it’s a used or new piano that can fit a particular budget.
If you have an acoustic upright or grand piano, it should be tuned twice a year. We can recommend a piano technician. The piano should be located in a well-lit place that allows practicing to be done with as few distractions as possible (TV/electronics, other siblings, etc.).
For violin/accordion requirements - our instructor can make a recommendation on the instrument as these instruments are sized to each student individually.

PRACTICE

Students are expected to practice at home 3-5 days a week and come prepared to their lesson with all of their assignments completed. Encourage your child to practice around the same time each day, it will create a great habit. We can provide a practice chart that your child can fill out and keep track of progress. Take time to listen to your child practice and comment upon the improvement you hear. This kind of encouragement, coupled with efficient practice routines, will help your child get the most out of lessons.
